To those of you who have been keeping up with my Facebook escapades, you may already know that I decided to pursue a Ph.D. in Counselor Education. I’ve been keeping you in the loop regarding where I interviewed.
To those of you who don’t know, I’m pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education! I recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with my master’s degree in Counselor Education. I always knew that I wanted to earn a Ph.D. one day, so I set a goal and worked towards it! I plan to detail my application process in another blog post, so stay tuned for application and interview tips when it comes to applying for grad school.
Anyhow! I applied to the following five programs in Counselor Education:
- University of Central Florida (Orlando, FL)
- University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Greensboro, NC)
- University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Charlotte, NC)
- Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA)
- College of William and Mary (Williamsburg, VA)
After 5 interview invitations, 4 interviews (because 2 were on the same day in different states, I had to choose), and 4 acceptances, I choose to pursue my Ph.D. at…..
Georgia State University!!!
I chose GSU because I feel like it provides the best fit for me as a student, professional, and researcher. The faculty of the Counselor Education and Practice program are world-renowned. And to top it all off, they offered me a financial package that I could not refuse. It was honestly my dream program from the beginning of my application process, and although the other programs had some tempting offers, I decided to stick with my original top choice.
I will be packing up my belongings and moving to Atlanta, Georgia in August of this year. So excited! Go Panthers!
Be well. ♥
